Per-review billing is the cheaper choice below 26.67 reviews per author per month against monthly seats, or 21.11 against annual seats. We publish the crossover instead of waiting for you to find it on an invoice — and you can switch models from the billing settings at any time.

Free forever for public repositories.
Not a trial, not a credit grant, not “free for your first 200 reviews”. If the repository is public and the licence is OSI-approved, the reviewer is free — including the full depth setting, the deterministic tool layer, and the learnings that paid teams get.
Maintainers should never pay for other people’s pull requests. Outside contributors are excluded from seat counting entirely, on every plan.

The one condition: a licence we can verify against the OSI list, on a public repository. Dual-licensed and source-available projects get a human look rather than an automatic no.
Pricing FAQ
The awkward questions.
What exactly is a seat?
A seat is one person who authored a pull request that we reviewed during the billing period. Not everyone with repository access, not reviewers, not people who only comment or merge. If an author opens nothing next month, the seat comes off the invoice next month.
Do bots and outside contributors cost me a seat?
Never. Automation accounts (Dependabot, Renovate, release bots and anything with a bot account type) and drive-by contributors from outside your organization are excluded from the seat count by the billing code, not by a policy we ask you to trust. Maintainers do not pay for other people’s pull requests.
Are there credits, and do they expire?
There are no credits. Per-seat billing charges for authors; per-review billing meters completed reviews as they happen. Nothing is bought in advance, so nothing can expire unused — the mechanic that quietly funds most usage-based pricing pages.
What happens when I hit a limit?
Free and Open source have a monthly inference ceiling. When it is reached, reviews pause until the ceiling resets and the bot says so in the pull request — you are never billed for an overage you did not agree to. Hourly rate limits queue rather than drop, and a pull request past the changed-file limit is skipped with a comment explaining why, so nothing fails silently.
If I push three more commits, do I pay for three more reviews?
On per-review billing, a completed incremental run counts as a review — so yes, and we would rather you knew before the invoice. Reviews auto-pause after a configurable number of consecutive pushes, and @superdiffs pause stops them on a pull request entirely. On per-seat billing, push as much as you like.
Can I switch between seats and usage, or between monthly and annual?
Yes, from billing settings; the change takes effect at the start of the next period. We never switch your billing model for you, in either direction — including when the other one would have earned us more.
What does cancelling do?
The plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for and then stops renewing. Uninstalling the GitHub App triggers deletion of your review data on our side; the trust center documents what is deleted and when.
